The valve cover of a Detroit Diesel In-line 71 Series engine contains an option plate that displays the engine serial number and model number. If this option plate is missing, the engine serial number can be found stamped on the cylinder block. An example of an In-line 3-71 serial number would be "03AXXXXXXX." In order to ensure that the correct parts are selected, Agkits.com requires a valid engine serial whenever a Detroit Diesel engine kit is ordered.
